Monrovia: Agricultural Training and Production.

Partners: LCMS World Relief, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Liberia and LCMS World Mission.


GOAL: After more than ten years of civil conflict, Liberians are at last able to turn their energies to food production. They have identified a need to improve agricultural production, money management and family income. First steps include teaching about soil fertilization and providing fertilizer for test plots. Money management classes will also be taught.

OBJECTIVES:

• Re-establish the financial independence of congregation members and leaders by focusing on agriculture and small business.

• Provide instruction in improved agricultural methods.

• Establish a comprehensive management skills training program including basic techniques in financial management and marketing.

Approved Project Support: $3,000 through 2003.

Hunger Projects : Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo and Uganda.
