Working with LCMS World Relief Partners
Obot Idim: Nigeria--Campaign Against HIV/AIDS
Partners: Partners: LCMS World Relief and the Lutheran Church of
Nigeria.
GOAL: The number of AIDS orphans continues to rise and Nigeria
is no exception. With no cure presently available, education is
the key focus. High school youth are the target population for a
series of informational workshops. A booklet written by a Nigerian
Lutheran youth will be distributed. The power of peer relationships
is critical in this program.
OBJECTIVES:
LCMS World Relief’s partner, the Lutheran church of Nigeria
will:
• Create public awareness about AIDS among youth as
a strong tool for prevention.
• Campaign teams will address youth gatherings in each
school or church and distribute peer-developed materials.
Approved Project Support: $38,083 through 2004.
