ELCA and Christian Health Association of Liberia (CHAL).
DESCRIPTION:
Primary health care programs of CHAL, an organization founded in
1975, are comprised of Christian churches in Liberia involved in health
ministries. CHAL procures drugs and medical supplies in bulk for six
member hospitals and 60 clinics, dispensaries, and community health
programs. It assists in vaccination programs, primary health care educational
programs, community organizing, production of printed material, and
the health-in-the-church program.
OBJECTIVES:
To coordinate all church related health and medical work.
To supply low cost drugs and medical supplies to members.
To provide in-service training and educational programs
of community health, midwifery, and MCH.
To develop projects for clean water supply and appropriate
sanitation.
To provide reconciliation and healing workshops for pastors,
health workers, and teachers in post-war Liberia.
