DESCRIPTION:
The Christian Health Association of Liberias Family Life Education
and HIV/AIDS Program was started in 1988 with support from ICCO. The
FLE, HIV/AIDS Program was designed to promote health education in the
community through CHAL member institutions to prevent the spread of
HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases and promote a Christian
health approach to family life. The program trains health workers, pastors,
teachers and students to share health information related to the prevention
and control of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases to the communities.
OBJECTIVES:
To enable the CHAL member units and communities/individuals
interacting with CHAL to take measures to prevent and control the spread
of HIV/AIDS and STDs and to support people affected by HIV/AIDS.
To conduct workshops for health workers, pastors, and
persons with basic social work skill to enable them to do AIDS counseling
and care.
To make available material on HIV/AIDS/STDs prevention
and control.
Make available supplies to facilitate HIV/AIDS awareness
building at member units.
