Summaries of HIV/AIDS Projects in Africa Working with ELCA World Hunger Program Partners Cameroon—AIDS Prevention and Control Program. Partners: ELCA and Garoua Boulai Hospital. DESCRIPTION: The Garoua Boulai Hospital serves the population in an area from Meiganga to Bertoua. It provides full hospital facilities with surgery, maternity care, and an outpatient clinic. The program is basically self-supporting, with medical personnel being provided for by the Division for Global Mission. Due to the large number of AIDS victims, many children are left with no parent or extended family to take care of them. This program provides food and basic medicines for these orphan children. OBJECTIVES: • To provide food and basic health care for orphan children of parents with AIDS. • To provide emotional support for children who have lost their parents.
