Stand With Africa works with churches and communities to withstand AIDS, produce enough food in Africa to eat and sell, and build peace at the grassroots. An ongoing campaign of Lutheran World Relief, the ELCA World Hunger Program and LCMS World Relief, Stand With Africa celebrates the vitality of Africa and the blessings of partnership.

This calendar invites you and your family to Stand With Africa. It is about compassion for life—the lives of African people. By grounding ourselves in God’s love and by focusing beyond ourselves we can find new levels of understanding and strength. We can look beyond our own needs to the needs of our sisters and brothers living in Africa. We share our blessings because God so deeply cares for our global family.

There is so much we can do to help every day. This calender is designed for parents or adults to use with children. Start this calendar anytime you wish, during a special season like Advent or Lent, or on a special day like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, or on your birthday. Print out the calendar daily and place it in the area where your family gathers together each day. Children can print out and color the pages that have pictures and take them to Sunday school. The activities can be a time of sharing and learning.

Make a special bank from a jar or can. Decorate it with a map of Africa or other African symbols you see in this calendar. As you journey through the calendar, collect your coins and dollars in the bank. After the 40th day, send the money you have collected to:
